Benjamin Rose Sr. VP and Director of Katz Policy Institute selected for Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame
Linda S. Noelker, PhD, of the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging (BRIA), has been selected as a 2011 inductee to the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame honor is given in recognition of tremendous accomplishments, commitment to excellence, and service to others.
Dr. Noelker is one of nine honorees who will be inducted to the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame on Thursday, August 25, at the Ohio Statehouse Atrium at 2 p.m. This annual event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Noelker joined BRIA as a Research Analyst and gradually moved into positions of greater responsibility including: Associate Director for Research, Director of the Margaret Blenkner Research Institute, and her current positions: Senior Vice President of Planning and Organizational Resources and Director of the Katz Policy Institute. Dr. Noelker is also an Adjunct Full Professor at Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Noelker has published in more than 100 chapters, scientific journal articles, and books. She is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of American (GSA), where she has also served as editorial board member and Editor-in-Chief of The Gerontologist, an international journal focused on multidisciplinary issues in aging.
Dr. Noelker currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Western Reserve Agency on Aging, the National Center for Creative Aging, OASIS, Hiram College, American Society on Aging (ASA), Senior Outreach Services, Inc., the Center on Aging and Health, and the National Alzheimer’s Association.
The Hall of Fame induction is the latest in many accolades Dr. Noelker has earned throughout her career. Other honors and awards include: Distinguished Career Contribution Award from GSA, Leadership Award from ASA, the Visiting Nurse Association Distinguished Women in Healthcare Award, the Menorah Park Center for Aging Arnold L. Heller Memorial Award, the English Speaking Union of NYC Winston Churchill Traveling Fellowship, and others.

About the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame: The Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame was established in 1978 by the Women’s Division of the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services (now part of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services) to publicly recognize the many outstanding contributions Ohio women have made to their state and nation. The Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame serves as a daily tribute to these women who are an ongoing source of pride and inspiration for all Ohioans – especially our state’s next generation of leaders. Records of the members are held by the Ohioana Library, where they are available to the public for research purposes. To date, more than 400 women have received the prestigious distinction of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
