 
Linda Noelker, PhD, senior vice president of planning and organizational development at the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging (BRIA), has been elected president of The National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA) Board of Directors. Noelker replaces Tobi Abramson, PhD, who was instrumental in establishing NCCA in its new home as an affiliate of George Washington University in Washington, DC.
In addition to Noelker's vice president role at BRIA, she also serves as the Director of the Katz Policy Institute of Benjamin Rose, which works to affect policy decisions regarding older adults.
"Dr. Abramson helped NCCA bridge to national prominence by expanding our services," said NCCA Executive Director Gay Hanna, PhD, MFA. "We're delighted that Dr. Noelker can capitalize on that achievement while bringing her well-known expertise in research."
"I'm thrilled to assume on the responsibilities of being NCCA Board President," said Noelker. "Most of my professional life has been devoted to improving the lives of older adults, and this appointment will help me pursue that goal even further by tapping potential through creativity."
During her two-year term, Noelker will oversee the roll out of NCCA's national initiative including major website development, leadership awards, a grant program and speakers' bureau, to be revealed in detail in the coming weeks.
Noelker has established herself as a leading figure in the field of aging. She also sits on the board of directors for Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging, OASIS International, Senior Outreach Services, Inc., and the Hiram College Board of Visitors. She has previously served on the boards of American Society on Aging (ASA) and the National Alzheimer's Association. The Ohio Women's Hall of Fame inducted Noelker this year for her "tremendous accomplishments, commitment to excellence and service to others."
Noelker served as Editor-in-Chief of The Gerontologist, the leading scientific journal of applied aging research, practice and policy from 2002 to 2006. She earned her master's and doctoral degrees from Case Western Reserve University, where she is now an adjunct professor.
