BRIA ANNOUNCES SALE OF FORMER NURSING HOME

April 2012

The Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging (BRIA) announced that the sale of Kethley House, BRIA's former nursing home, to Kindred Healthcare was finalized as of Tuesday, April 3, 2012. BRIA has begun construction on its new headquarters at 11890 Fairhill Road, expected to be ready in the spring of 2013.

"Kethley House was designed to be a great building to provide inpatient care. Kindred is in the business of providing intensive care to complex patients for periods of time longer than appropriate in acute care hospitals. This agreement will assure that Kethley House will be used in the best way possible," Richard Browdie, BRIA President & CEO, said. "This sale also will enable BRIA to build a home in Cleveland that supports our historic mission of developing and managing innovative long-term services and supports and conducting research that further improves our understanding of services for older people and the policies that make better services possible."

During the interim, Offices for Administration, Margaret Blenkner Research Institute, and the Katz Policy Institute will remain at our current location. Other staff from BRIA's Eldercare Services Institute will move to offices at 11811 Shaker Blvd, Suite 206.

The BRIA mailing address will remain 11900 Fairhill Road, Suite 300, Cleveland OH 44120.

BRIA has retained Herman Gibans Fodor, Inc. Architects to design its new headquarters. Albert M. Higley Co. is the General Contractor for the project.
