The ECHO Project is designed to help older adults
Stay mentally active
Learn more about memory loss and the symptoms that accompany it
Improve your communication skills
Research shows that mental exercises may slow the progression of memory loss. ECHO combines three techniques to help individuals with memory loss and their families prepare for the changes that lie ahead.
If you are experiencing memory loss, you will be asked to participate in “mental exercises” three times each week either using a computer or completing assigned reading tasks. In addition, you may qualify for counseling sessions to help you and a family member with communication skills and to cope with the changes you are both experiencing. All ECHO sessions and activities will take place in your home or another place of your choice over a 4-month period.
