Benjamin Rose's tag line is "Helping People Age Successfully." But what does that really mean? As part of a way to increase public awareness about the booming population of older adults (experts estimate that by 2030, one in five people in the U.S. will be 65 or older), Benjamin Rose recently began sponsoring "Successful Aging," a monthly column in Sun Newspapers' Living tabloid. The writer is well-known Cleveland area free-lance writer Eileen Beal, MA.
A former Cleveland Public Schools teacher and assistant editor of the Cleveland Jewish News, Ms. Beal is now focusing her writing efforts on aging issues. Why? "Aging affects every aspect of life--health, emotion, spirit, family and monetary matters," she explains.
The goal of the column is to motivate two groups: older adults and their caregivers. "I want to get them thinking and acting in a positive manner toward the aging process," says Ms. Beal, who has completed a certification in medical writing from American Medical Writers Association and is currently seeking a certificate in geriatrics through the Western Reserve Geriatric Education Center.
