Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging Hosting Free, In-Person Homebuyer Education Class
Comprehensive workshop to be followed by a pre-approval clinic
CLEVELAND, Ohio (June 20, 2023) – Empowering and Strengthening Ohio’s People (ESOP), a program of Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging, is hosting an in-person Homebuyer Education Class on Saturday, June 24 in celebration of National Homeownership Month.
The free HUD-approved class will teach participants the important basics of the home buying process, including:
- Understanding credit & managing money
- Learning the mortgage loan process
- Shopping for a home
- Understanding insurance and inspections
- Maintaining and sustaining homeownership
With current interest rates for a $300,000 home hovering around 7.5% for those with excellent credit, the dream of buying a home has started to feel out of reach for some. Lack of education about personal finance and budgeting, credit scores and mortgage loans can add an additional layer of stress and confusion to the process.
ESOP provides individuals and families with the knowledge to move forward with confidence when they are ready to find a home. As a HUD-approved housing and financial counseling agency, ESOP helps adults in all stages of life achieve and maintain financial wellness and housing stability.
Following the workshop, which runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., participants can attend a pre-approval clinic from 4-7 p.m. Both events will take place at Benjamin Rose headquarters at 11890 Fairhill Rd., Cleveland, OH 44120.
