Find your roots! Learn how to explore your heritage with guidance from the Western Reserve Historical Society while connecting more to Cleveland’s own history of immigration and culture. This free, five-Saturday series is hosted by Benjamin Rose and AARP Ohio.
Part 1: Introduction to Genealogy & Museum Tour June 28th, 10 AM to Noon
Prepare to find good historical information about your ancestors and how to build a family tree at the Cleveland History Center
Part 2: Walking Tour of Cleveland Cultural Gardens July 5th, 10 AM to Noon
Learn more of the Cultural Gardens’ history and the dedicated ethnic groups who take care of them.
Part 3: Walking Tour of Lake View Cemetery July 12, 10 AM to Noon
Hear about the highlights of Cleveland’s historic landscapes, landmarks, and Legacies
Part 4: Dunham Tavern Museum July 19th, 10 AM to Noon
Explore the oldest building still standing on its original site in the City of Cleveland.
Part 5: WRHS Library Session July 26th, 2 Groups (10 AM to Noon, 1 to 3 PM)
Receive hands-oaccess to historical materials with guidance from the WRHS Genealogical Committee to find family members in their archives.
Those who register for the Genealogy Basics & Beyond series will be registered for all 5 sessions.
Please note, “Part 5: WRHS Library Session” will be split into two groups, one from 10 AM to Noon and the other from 1 PM to 3 PM. Please choose one timeslot or the other when registering.
Those who register are not required to attend all 5 sessions, but it is stressed to AT LEAST be at the first and last sessions with the WRHS. Of course, we would love to have you join for all 5!
