Led by a dedicated Board of Directors, the Benjamin Rose Institute started by helping older people remain in their own homes. In the 1940s, the organization began providing residential care to older adults unable to live in their own homes. In 1961, a research department was created to develop and evaluate services for older people and their families. In 2007, a policy institute was established to provide leadership in evidence-based public policy development.
