Join the Benjamin Rose Young Professional Council for a panel discussion on the difficulties facing millennial and working caregivers.

Millennials are becoming one of the largest caregiver populations, representing about 10 million of the total 40 million unpaid caregivers in the US, a number that is expected to sharply increase as the population of older adults over the age of sixty-five doubles over the next generation. Millennials often take on caregiving roles while attending school, working one or more jobs, taking care of young families and navigating student loan debt. Balancing work with caregiving can be a significant challenge for millennials, many of whom are only just getting started in the workforce and are still seeking to establish themselves professionally. Around 39 percent of millennial caregivers arrive to work late or have to leave early due to their caregiving responsibilities, and 14 percent have to reduce their work hours entirely. If employers are unaware of the reasons behind their employee’s absenteeism, this may also lead to severe warnings, cuts to salaries, demotions or even termination.

Our panel of experts will discuss managing work and caregiver responsibilities, how to care from a distance and helping your loved one navigate Medicare and benefits enrollment. These topics will help you develop the steps and strategies you need to empower yourself to take on the caring for your loved one and the stress of a career.

This event is open to all and free to attend.
